Applewood Village

Introduction

Applewood Village is a modern development located in the town of Swords, in County Dublin, Ireland. It is a vibrant and diverse community that has become a popular location for families and young professionals. The village is home to a range of amenities and facilities, making it an attractive place to live, work and play. In this thesis, we will explore the history of Applewood Village, its current state, and its potential for future growth and development.

History of Applewood Village

The story of Applewood Village began in the late 1990s when the land was acquired by developers. The area was previously known as 'The Mains' and was predominantly farmland. However, with the increasing population and demand for housing in Swords, the land was earmarked for development. Planning permission was granted in 1998, and construction of the village began soon after.

The first phase of the development was completed in 2000, and it included a mix of apartments, townhouses, and semi-detached houses. The village was designed to be a self-contained community, with a central plaza, shops, and amenities. The name 'Applewood' was chosen as a nod to the area's agricultural past, with apple orchards having once been a prominent feature of the landscape.

Current State of Applewood Village

Today, Applewood Village is a thriving community with a population of over 10,000 people. The village has expanded significantly since its initial development, with the addition of new phases, including more housing options, a primary school, a community center, and a public park. The village also boasts a range of essential amenities, including a supermarket, pharmacy, and several restaurants and cafes.

One of the key features of Applewood Village is its strong sense of community. The village has an active residents association, which organizes regular events and activities to bring the community together. These events include summer festivals, Christmas markets, and community clean-up days. The residents of Applewood Village take great pride in their community, and this is evident in the well-maintained houses and well-kept public spaces.

Future Growth and Development

While Applewood Village has already seen significant growth and development, there is still potential for further expansion and improvement. The village is currently home to a mix of young families and older residents, but there is also a growing demand for housing from young professionals. With its close proximity to Dublin City, Applewood Village has the potential to become a hub for young professionals looking for a more affordable and family-friendly alternative to city living.

There have been talks of further phases of development, including the addition of more housing options, a secondary school, and improved infrastructure. The village is also well-connected to the rest of Dublin, with easy access to public transport, including the Dublin Bus and Swords Express services. This makes it an attractive location for businesses to set up and for commuters to live.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Applewood Village is a thriving community that has seen significant growth and development since its inception. Its strong sense of community, range of amenities, and potential for further growth make it an attractive location for people of all ages and backgrounds. With its strategic location and well-planned infrastructure, Applewood Village is poised to continue to grow and evolve in the future, making it an ideal place to call home.
