In September 2016, The Star Pub was sold. This marked the end of an era for the historic establishment. After the sale, the building underwent significant renovations.
The pub reopened under its new name, The Arch Bar. The name is a nod to the building's architecture and its location overlooking Swords Castle. The new owners have created a modern traditional bar, with a focus on food, cocktails, and live music, carrying on the tradition of the building as a central part of Swords' social life.

Update- The new name for The Star is ''The Arch'' and it will open on Friday the 11th of March

The Star Pub Is Closed Until Further Notice
The Star is one of the oldest pubs in Swords and is owned by the Taylor family. The pub is famous for it's food and more importantly the price of the grub, it's one of the largest pubs in Swords. The bar is to the front of the premises, the pool lounge is upstairs at the front and is frequented mostly by young people. There are 6 pool tables in the pool lounge with further tables of a larger size to the rear of the lounge. The downstairs lounge is where the food is served all day and into the evening. Celtic Fusion also play a regular gig in the bar on Tuesday nights starting around 9-30, Celtic Fusion play a mixture of folk and pop songs. Traditional music session on Sundays, starts around 7pm until 9pm, the group are Room For One More.
